How To Make More Money By Typing Only

As I promised, here is another site for writers to make a lot of money out of. It's called Constant Content.

I've already added that site under my "Recommended Links". So if anyone ever tried using it, you'll know its potential.

I, on the other hand, have used it once and sadly, unsuccessful at it. This is because of their high calibre human resources to read, check and approve articles submitted to their site. I've read other reviews whether the site is a scam or not and I find that it's as authentic as it can be.

There are a lot of drawbacks as well as benefits to this site.

Benefits:

• You get paid after what you've written and submitted to the site.
• You get paid on a "usage" basis.
• You get paid more on an "exclusive" rights.
• You improve your writing ability and your English Language.

Drawbacks:

• You can submit articles that are fresh, unique, original and English error free, which limits to those who are poor in the English Language.
• Your articles can get rejected for poor quality. Very common.
• If articles get rejected 3 times (I'm not sure if it's in a row or any 3 times), your account will be banned.
• You only get paid if someone is willing to pay for your well-written articles.

Don't worry about the last part of the Drawback as I can see that there are some publishers (members of the Constant Content Community) request some articles to be written. This may be academic or for their research. Either way, they are willing to pay for it at a reasonable price. And in USD to BND, that's more than reasonable. However, the only main concern about article submission to Constant Content is the fact that they will ONLY accept high quality articles. Meaning no grammar mistakes, no punctuation mistakes, better vocabulary, etc. Which leads to the individual's English level.

I took an IELTS Test 2 years ago. I got a 6.5 overall band score. So if my band score is not enough for Constant Content, then I suppose an 8 or a 9 should suffice. But enough about the bad stuff. Let's take a closer look at the rewards you will be getting if you actually managed to submit several articles to Constant Content.

There are 3 kinds of payment:

1. Usage - It is a right where someone pays for your article and able to use and re-use your article over and over, while you still hold rights to that article and still sell it to other publishers. They are not allowed to edit or change your article in anyway.
2. Unique - It is a right where someone pays for your article once but they are able to use and re-use your article. A slight difference between Usage and Unique is, that you can use your own article on your own website.
3. Full - It is a right where someone buys your article once and able to use, re-use and edit your article and claim it as their own.

The drawback with Unique and Full is that once your article is sold under these rights, its off the server. Meaning you get paid once. So what's the point? If you see the picture above, you'll notice that people charge higher for Unique and Full. So as you can see, the potential of just writing articles and submitting it to Constant Content will be a blast! Taking you to a new level of penmanship.

There's more about it but you have to go to their site for better clarifications. Be sure you read the terms and conditions and the writer's guidelines before you submit! It's crucial that you do!

And just in case you're not that good in writing, there are other mediums to submit content and get paid for it:

• Photography
• Videos
• Illustrations

Same rules, same terms and conditions, more or less the same guidelines to follow, same process, but more rewards. If you're a photographer and takes the best pictures, submit! If you're a director/producer and creates the best videos, submit! If you're an artist and have the best artwork, submit! And see the money flow.

Be A Rich Inventor

You probably heard how others got ideas and managed to make it sell and get billions of dollars every year just by being original or unique. I kinda got some help after my trip to Magistrate Court.

I had an appointment with one of their Industrial Patent Counsellor, Dayang Noor Hajizah (Sorry, if I got the spelling wrong. If you are reading this, please do contact me for editing or approving the name.). I asked about everything from Trademarks to Industrial Designs to Copyrights. And in the interview, she mentioned about the usage of Trademarks and how it is very important for every entrepreneur to have one. Her example was as follows:

"Let's take example of Coca Cola. In the value of its brand alone, is already worth 6.5 trillion USD. Just imagine if someone were to buy this brand. And if somebody did, the job is simple. Just sit back, relax and watch the money flows as retailers and wholesalers will have to pay royalties to the owner of the brand."

As I understood that, she continues with a question, "Do you know how they managed to get its brand value to that much? They promote and advertise. They do it aggressively and with strategies to be the number one brand in the soft drink world." Her point is that even if you have a unique and original product and set up a trademark for it, you really need it to be well-known that such a product already existed in the world. Otherwise, people will steal it from you since they were unaware of such a product.

And as she explained more of its usage, it's only sensible if I explain its definition and how you can take advantage of it.

A trademark and copyright is an intangible tool in which to protect your unique and original product from being imitated and/or stolen.

If you create a product and then have it under copyright and trademark of your own and start selling it, you'll be like the next Thomas Edison.

Thomas Edison is the richest scientist among all the other inventors. Every single time he invented something like a light bulb to a music recorder, he gets paid in royalties.

Locals should be doing so, as a matter of fact, having an idea and turning it into a reality is the million dollar idea or better yet, billions or trillions. Why? Because you don't need to pay anything to get an idea. You just need to be inspired.

And once you're inspired, you're next step is to turn that idea into a real-living product, well- tested, proven and useful for everyone else to have.

Then lastly, cover your product with copyright and trademark for protection.

Contest is Cancelled!

I've been checking my email updates daily and every now and then. Supposedly, there should be someone who have already joined in this contest but somehow nobody did. So for this, I will officially have to cancel the contest.

Differences in Setting Up A Business Online and Offline

I have done so much posts on how to run a business or how to improve it. But I have received some emails before asking about how would I set up a business legally. I went to Bandaran and the Magistrate Court the other day to find out. First, I asked about the processes it takes to set up a business offline.

For that, you are going to need to register your company name, trademark, copyrights on your products or services, and then get a approved by the Magistrate Court. Then you're going to need to go to Bandaran (Town Hall) to get a license for your business. Lastly, go to BINA, to get a place approved to run your business properly. And all this would count as much as around B$500 just to set up your business legally and this will be your annual fee. Which I find very troublesome to do but necessary for those who are planning to set up shop offline.

But here's the difference in setting up an online business. You don't need to overly pay all that. If at most, around B$50 to pay for registering your company name, trademark and copyright. You won't need a place to set it up since Internet is not owned by any Government (or anyone else for that matter).

However, whatever businesses you might be thinking about running a business either offline and online, be sure that you do proper research and see if the returns on investment is worth it. Considering the hundreds of dollars and time spent to do so should be able to give you the feeling of how important to handle these tasks to run a business.

FAQ's about Bruneian Dollar's Webcomic Contest

It's been a few days since I've launched my webcomic contest. There are a few who are interested in it though. Some have some questions regarding it. Therefore, I'm putting up a FAQ post about it.

Q: Can we use real live pictures as the webcomic medium?

A: Yes. You can. But please note that I still count on its graphical representation for the comic strip.

Q: How many scenes per strip?

A: As many as you like. As long as it has point or short story or any random story.

Q: How about if I use game sprites or other already prepared images provided in the Internet?

A: You may use them to your discretion. However, please do note that you need to give the original creator their copyright. Taking for example: see http://www.bobandgeorge.com. They've used Megaman game sprites to make their webcomic and was close to getting sued by Capcom because they failed to let their readers know nor any indication that the sprites belonged to Capcom.

Q: I don't know how to draw a webcomic...

A: There are two ways to go about this.

1. See Wait Seminit's blog post about his finding of using a trial software version to create webcomics with ready made pictures. (30 Days Trial)
2. Draw on a piece of paper, scan, color it with photoshop and it's done. Many artists online has been using this technique for awhile now.

Q: Is this contest legal?

A: Yes. It's legal. There is no catch or no fees to enter this contest. It's completely free. The only way it can be illegal is that I would charge people to enter the contest. Thus, it will turn into a gambling issue in which then I would consult with the local government.

Set up and use any blogging platform (Blogspot or Wordpress) and use that to put your webcomic strips up.

Draw up 7 webcomic strips. Put it on your blog. It will be seen on the Bruneian Dollar's Blogroll. Gain readership and promote your blog to gain more votes! Do this when the competition starts.

How to win?

Draw and create fantastic content for your readers. It will be based on 3 factors for judging.

How do the public vote?

Not just any reader should vote. All readers must have a Google account or any other OpenID account to vote. This is to avoid spamming of vote. All voters are allowed to comment and vote ONCE on each comic strip. To vote, simply comment on their strip(s) with either good comment or bad comments and at the end a "VOTE UP" or "VOTE DOWN" written. This way, the candidates will know what they can do to improve themselves on the next strip to gain more votes.

How to Optimize Exposure (Simplified)

Another trick to optimizing your sites exposure is to do ad placing. But what if you spent so much time at a site that doesn't get a lot of traffic? There are plenty of classified sites out there and some of them have lots or less traffic. So be wise and use the tools provided.

One of the many useful tools to tell whether the site is obtaining plenty or a lot of exposure is to search for it. You can try use other search engines to take a look at its page rank. Or you can also use Google Trends to analyze traffic feeds just as the picture below shown.

Sorry about the image quality. A small description about it was to compare the traffic between classified ads of Brunei and Malaysia (pretty obvious who would win in terms of traffic). The blue line on the graph represent olx.com.my and the red line represents brudirect.com. By the use of Google Trend traffic analysis, I can then make my move to do some ad placing in other sites depending on the latest recorded traffic.

I've made use of it to tell me whether the site is still maintaining performance in gaining a lot of traffic. And even if it doesn't show a lot of information, I still evaluate the site with other notable tools. Posting your ad at huge traffic incoming sites is a must if you're going to hit any sales. But don't ignore the sites that are still new or still has less traffic than it was before. It just depends on the content it has. Also when you do some ad posting, be sure you do it responsibly. Don't SPAM here and there and hope you get something out of it (which evidently works but inefficient) You just need leverage.

Just as Donald Trumph once said,"Less means more." Which is true and can be applied to advertising. Less advertisement means more responses. And of course that doesn't mean you have to do it rarely. What he means is that you do less but effectively working at it. This way it catches on instead of a mass email spam.

So get on promoting and promote responsibly.

Consumer Pond has been published! BETA version

To BruneianDollar readers and others, you may have noticed that huge banner advertisement on the side of this blog. You know which one. The Consumer Pond. And guess what? They finally launched it yesterday! I was checking around and clicking here and there just like a curious cat sniffing about.

After awhile, I've noticed that it has these following features(to the extent that I understood them on my own):

• Posting an ad to your website - Very useful for those web entrepreneurs
• Calendar of events - opposed to the BruneiDiary.info this one helps with the actual calendar. They even let you add your own event to it but I wonder if it can or will be used by everyone and not just meant for those entrepreneurs and/or business people.

Other than that, they did a swell job at working at their website. I can also see that they made real good use out of Joomla! I'm proud at what they've done. However, since its a BETA version, there are still some holes in their website. Looking forward to a closed Beta version of their website soon. :)

Cost To Spend For Romance

Ah the romance! Quite a day where couples get to be with their love ones and do something special for Valentines. Unfortunately, Brunei has been discouraged not to celebrate it. Even so with some parts of the worlds as well. Claims are from, "Valentine's Day is not a Public Holiday" to "You can celebrate your love anytime of the year. It doesn't always have to be February 14th." To which I agree with these claims. Why? In my personal opinion, it is better to be spontaneous in your love life rather than having everything planned out. But still, it doesn't really hurt to plan a bit.

But I won't be writing about how you can improve relationships here in my blog. Instead, I'll be giving in tips on what you can do for each other and it doesn't have to be on Valentine's Day to do it. And of course, with cost-benefit strategy. To all boyfriends or husbands or the occasional women who rules the household can spend the day with their love ones to be as cheap as it can be as well as cost-effective management as a side dish to your romance.

But first, a little Valentine's Day Joke which I found viral over the Internet. And it said this:

Phil, a smart and handsome young man, dressed in the latest fashion, walked into this local pub. He noticed a woman gazing at him without blinking her big eyes. Phil felt flattered so he walked up to the woman and said in his deepest voice, 'I'll do anything you wish, beautiful lady, for just £10 but on one condition.' 

The woman appeared to be trapped in the moment and asked as if in a trance, 'What's your condition?'

Phil answered, 'Tell me your wish in just three words.' 

There was a long pause, the woman opened her purse, counted out the money and handed it to the man along with her address.  She then looked deeply into his eyes and whispered, 'Clean my house.'

Now that is one crafty beautiful lady. I suppose you find that the joke was a bit towards to where I am going with this post? Yes I am!


So here are a few things that you can do with your love ones on any given day and of course, cost-benefit wise:

• Take a stroll
• It's interesting to see that many Bruneians don't really go for a lot of walks and prefer to just stay indoors. It's unhealthy. Go out for some exercise and whats better than taking a nice stroll at some of the recreational parks we have in Brunei. There's Tasek Lama, Hutan Berakas, or even go on a nice stroll down the Muara Beach. Or if you get thirsty, bring some freshly dispensed water into a bottle along with you. Just in case.
• How much? = Priceless.
• Watch a movie at home
• While going to the cinema is just as great as it sounds, there's nothing better than to have a home theater entertainment. If you don't have one, well the cinema is just fine but you won't know what you're missing. While at home, you have your own privacy. People won't be doing all lovy-dovy around you (which sometimes becomes annoying to other people). Also before you start watching a movie, it's best to have some snacks prepared. Don't go for take outs as they are often more expensive. Go for the ones that have some thought into. Will talk about food later.
• How much? = B$1 for a ripped off movie bought at CD shops or free if you download them and B$5~ for snacks or food for thought.
• Home-made dinner
• One of the most romantic part of the evening is to have a candle-lit dinner with some home-cook meals. But to some busy people who are working at their days couldn't find the time to cook these lovely meals and they often go out to a fancy restaurant. That's a financial mistake but still if you can afford it, go ahead. But not recommended. What to cook? Well try something simple. According to some romantic specialist, they claim to not order spaghetti as it sometimes be harder to talk with all that string wiggling around your mouth. So go for something that can be eaten in a bite. Try some home-made bread or the traditional chicken rice. Or better yet, go cultural with Ambuyat. Oh and don't forget to put up the mood with some classic or romantic music while you're at it. ;)
• How much? = On average B$10~20 for groceries. As for music, you can just rip it from the Internet.
• Play a game together
• To some, don't play MMORPG or any console games together. However, if the situation is special like the couple both share an interest in playing console games, why not? But if you were to play any electronic games (whether you have the interest or not), I recommend playing Wii or Nintendo DS. I notice that the company is focusing their games to be more family oriented and for casual gamers too. But if you do not own any of these consoles, then I recommend playing a simple traditional board game. Like Twister (Best if you have a group), Truth or Dare!, or go to Romantic Games online to find out more.
• Price = B$?? Depends on if you have already bought the games beforehand or you can make one up just for you two to play with. The Special Game~ ;)

And just by these ideas, you already have your evening or day planned out for your love one and remember, you can celebrate your love at any given day. It doesn't have to be on Valentine's Day only. As well as being cost-effective while you're at it. :)
